I want to talk to you this week about one of the biggest things that’s holding you back from being successful. And that is blame. When you find another reason for why you can’t be successful, even if it’s valid, even if a new competitor has entered the market, even if your goals have been raised to a point that you feel are almost unachievable, even if it’s all the shifts and changes happening with COVID still the moment that you start blaming other reasons for the lack of your success. It’s the moment that you give away all your energy. It’s when you start focusing on what you can’t control, and you forget to focus on what you can control. Listen, the difference between people who succeed and people who don’t is the fact that people who succeed, focus on what they can control and they forget about the rest.
One of the biggest things I learned from researching my new book thrive is the fact that success isn’t logical. It’s not about having better resources. It’s not about having more money. It’s not about being lucky. It’s about what you choose to focus on. Now think about that. I just told you that the number one thing you need to be successful, you have control over that is what you focus on. So stop blaming other reasons for why you’re not successful, focus on what you can control. And you’re going to turn all of this uncertainty into your competitive advantage.
